Therapy for Women of Color in the East Bay
As Black, Indigenous, Women of Color (BIWOC) we've learned early on in life that we have to navigate the world amidst white supremacy, misogyny, homophobia and other aspects of social injustice. Mental health is not an exception to which BIWOC struggle, including the added difficulty of finding a therapist that actually gets us. Or least is open to other worldviews.
Dealing with mental health concerns is a lot, let alone dealing with the impacts of racism, sexism and other forms of oppression.
BIWOC far too often suffer it comes to taking care of their mental health and emotional well-being. Whether it be work related stress, anxiety about your career, overhwelm with your family, or school, you still have to walk through the world in relation to your identity, which adds another layer of understanding of your experience.
We get it. That's why we are here.
Having a therapist who doesn't shy away from examining how identity impacts mental health is paramount for BIPOC women to get the high quality care they deserve.
At EMTC you can bring your full self into the therapy room. You can bring issues that matter to you, because they matter to us too.
